The Job
As the Senior Systems Engineer - Propulsion, you will be responsible for hardware and software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation of technical products and systems with an emphasis on propulsion subsystem development, analysis, and testing for unmanned aircraft. Primary responsibilities for this role include being the primary interface for critical suppliers, evaluating and testing propulsion subsystems, conducting data analyses, and interfacing with the vehicle design team for integration.
The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies.
Functions
Responsible for requirements definition, flow-down and traceability for complex electronic systems embracing agile product systems and software development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) processes to enhance development speed and quality; Leads the execution of rapid learning cycles in requirements development, design, build, integration & test and verification & validation in a design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability environmentLead development effort for key components of propulsion subsystem, providing technical guidance to internal engineers as well as external suppliers, while ensuring technical, schedule and cost objectives of the hardware are metDevelop, track and present technical performance metricsHelp perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projectsExecute system integration and engineering test efforts of propulsion systemsDevelops or champions new systems, concepts, or technologies.Responsible for improving upon existing Systems Engineering processesSystem design synthesis of complex electronic systems to include processes and interfaces in testingPerform trade studies on a variety of systems and componentsPerform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground and flight testAnalyze data from design verification test effortsDevelop and run simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environmentsPresent results during internal and external program meetingsParticipate in proposal activities both cost and technicalObtain and maintain any additional clearances as requiredLifting up to 20 lbs10% travel may be requiredOther duties as requiredQualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experienceActive DoD Secret security clearanceSystem level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware / software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution optionsHands-on experience being involved in system integration, engineering testing, and system performance characterizationPreferred Skills
