Key Responsibilities
Product Innovation Leadership & 3-Year Innovation Strategy:
- Lead the development of new product ideas and innovations for Cetaphil Facial Skincare, leveraging insights and analytics to support strategic direction and priorities.
- Develop and execute a 3-year product innovation pipeline, focusing on fast-growing categories, hero products, and emerging trends.
- Assist in the creation of an innovation strategy that aligns with business and retailer objectives, driving brand growth and market differentiation.
- Partner with Global Marketing and R&D on ingredients, product formats, breakthrough innovation ideas, formula submission review and approval, and clinical and consumer testing parameters for product claims.
Strategic Brand Development & Market Insights:
- Determine new market opportunities for products based on market data, consumer insights, social listening, and emerging trends.
- Lead market analysis to assess success factors in product categories (messaging, visuals, claims) for both new and existing products.
- Partner with Global Marketing to infuse compelling storytelling into new product launches and create emotional connections with consumers.
Collaboration with Global Marketing & Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborate with Global Marketing to ensure the alignment of global innovation strategies, ensuring consistent product offerings and messaging across the U.S. market.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, partnering with teams including Global marketing, PMO, R&D, Trade Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Legal, Consumer Insights, and more, to ensure seamless execution of product launches.
- Attend regular status calls to support product challenges and share insights for the development process.
- Ensure all new launches align with brand vision, financial objectives, and consumer expectations, monitoring forecasts and sales performance in collaboration with Trade Marketing, Sales, and Analytics.
New Product Briefs & Market Execution:
- Collaborate with Global marketing on the execution of new product innovation briefs, outlining strategies, positioning, target claims, key ingredients, retail price, packaging, and formula details.
- Partner with Trade Marketing to recommend and set pricing structures for new product innovations based on market positioning, competitive landscape, and consumer demand.
- Ensure cost of goods efficiency to meet overall brand financial objectives, including pricing and SKU management.
- Design sampling strategies for new launches, collaborating with trade marketing.
Product Launch & Go-To-Market Planning:
- Lead innovation sessions to help shape the strategic calendar for upcoming U.S. product launches.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive flawless execution of all new product launches.
- Lead go-to-market planning across PR, social, influencer, media, shopper, CRM, and e-retail, partnering with cross-functional teams such as the paid/owned/earned media team, trade marketing, and Global marketing to ensure cohesive execution.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a direct report, ensuring development opportunities and fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.
- Champion innovation development meetings with cross-functional partners to achieve on-time launches.
- Responsible for the preparation and facilitation of Stage Gate meetings
Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
- Track and analyze the performance of new products post-launch and optimize strategies based on consumer feedback, market trends, and performance metrics.
- Continuously refine and iterate product offerings to remain competitive in a fast-evolving beauty market.
Key Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university required. MBA preferred.
Experience:
- 7 years CPG or OTC mass-market landscape experience working in marketing with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership roles and proven track record of driving market share and profitable growth
- 1-3 years of beauty, personal care/skin care experience preferred
- Proven expertise in managing the full product development cycle from concept to market introduction.
- Experience in building and managing a 3-year innovation pipeline and working collaboratively with global marketing.
- Expertise in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Circana/IRI or Nielsen databases, and other industry tools.
- Numerator consumer insights experience preferred
- Strong understanding of the beauty industry, consumer-driven marketing strategies, and market dynamics.
- Experience leading 360 communications campaigns across media channels, including influence/advocacy
- Demonstrated ability to analyze market data and consumer insights to drive innovation and product strategy.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using consumer data and insights to drive decision-making.
- Demonstrate a high level of change agility, flexing to deliver on consumer and shopper and retailer trends and needs
