What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse - Surgery Center position at GALEA Center for Advanced Surgery?
Ambulatory surgery center in Newport Beach looking for staff RN's.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of each patient assigned.*
- Adheres to the Pre, Intra and Post Procedure standards of nursing care.
- Provides patient care pre, intra and post-operatively
- Observes vital signs, IV site, dressings, tubes, drains, and any special monitoring equipment required for the recovery period.*
- Allay fears and anxiety of patient, provides quiet environment, and respects the dignity and privacy of the patient.
- Coordinate the preparation of the center with other team members.
- Implement the plan of care during each phase of care within the center.*
- Assess patients according to systematic approach.*
- Identify the patient with cardiac and/or respiratory arrest, initiate and maintain adequate CPR.*
- Evaluate the nursing assessment and appropriately communicate data to the anesthesiologist/CRNA and/or physician.*
- Assess and implement discharge from post-anesthesia recovery unit.*
- Give comprehensive nursing care to meet the total needs of the patient.
- Accurately record nursing actions and physician’s directions on the medical record which reflects nursing care given.*
- Maintain a safe physical environment including equipment and necessary supplies.
- Assists in the development of the Center's Quality Management & Professional Improvement Program. Actively participates in the ongoing Quality Management & Professional Improvement Program.*
- Promote good public relations with the patient’s family and visitors.
- Participation in Center “in services” relative to position and to maintain professional competency.
- Adheres to Center’s policies.
- Performs other assigned work as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current licensure with this State’s Board of Nurse Examiners. Demonstrated knowledge and responsibility through references from past education and/or job experience.
- A comprehensive knowledge of operating room nursing principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Ability to give concise and accurate directions verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize own work and that of others.
- Current BLS and ACLS
