What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist/ Accounting Clerk position at Galen Medical Group?
Summary/Objective:
Assist the Accounting Department in handling payroll and light accounting duties.
Essential Functions:
- Process bi-weekly & monthly payroll using third party payroll vendor software.
- Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
- Manage time and attendance processes.
- Coordinator year-end W-2 reconciliations with third party payroll vendor.
- Reconcile benefits payable invoices to payroll registers
- Manage bank and general ledger reconciliations, including coordinating with other departments to gather necessary data
- Handle daily bookkeeping functions and cash flow
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Compile data from a variety of sources and departments to balance and maintain spreadsheets.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Expectations/Abilities:
- Records maintenance skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Word processing and/or data entry skills.
- Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Organizing and coordination skills.

Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Excellent organization, written and communication skills.
Attention to details.
Computer literate.
Microsoft Office experience.
Experience with Paylocity, preferred, but not required.
Skills/Certifications
Exceptional skills of organization, analysis, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, professional interaction, and human relation skills
Must be PC literate with strong computer navigational skills
Self-motivated and eager to learn; Must be team player.
Ability to work within specified timeframe requirements, including timeframes for goal achievement.
