Job Title: Cook
Reports To: Food and Beverage Manager
Summary: The Cook will be responsible for using high-quality ingredients to prepare delicious meals for our residents. The ideal candidate is experienced, creative, and committed to creating an excellent food experience for residents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Cook or otherwise prepare high-quality, nutritious meals with excellent food presentation according to recipes and/or menu
- Set up the kitchen with necessary tools and equipment
- Prepare food and present it in an appealing manner
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and restock when necessary
- Follow all food safety regulations
- Participate in daily kitchen opening and closing procedures
- Prepares food items on Community’s daily menu for Residents within scheduled time frame
- Keeps food service areas clean in compliance with local and state regulations
- Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to- ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, and freezers
- Assures that Resident diets are being followed while on shift
- Reports to supervisor any loss, breakage, or waste of supplies and equipment
- Observes and communicates to supervisor any problems or potential problems in the dietary department

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Serv Safe Certification may be required
- Two (2) years of related experience in the restaurant industry preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Has the ability to work with little or no supervision
- Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures essential in accordance to state guidelines
- Has the ability to cook large quantities of food and deliver a superior product
- Has the ability to guide and instruct others in food preparation and food serving
- Has the ability to maintain professional demeanor under stress
- Express compassion for residents, associates, and guests on a consistent basis
- Is willing to work flexible hours
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
Working Conditions: Specific physical requirements are outlined in accordance with the American Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
- Requires interaction with co-workers, residents, or vendors
- Occasional weekend, evening, or night work if needed to ensure shift coverage
- 100% time spent on site in community setting
- Possible exposure to communicable disease and infections

- Possible exposure to various drugs, chemical, infectious, or biological hazards
- Subject to injury from falls, burns, odors, or cuts from equipment
