Job Summary
As a Hospice Aide, you will play a crucial role in providing comfort, companionship, and personal care to patients in hospice care. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and in coordination with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive personalized and compassionate care in their final stages of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene.
- Assist patients with mobility and transfers, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, helping patients feel at ease.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the supervising nurse.
- Assist with light housekeeping related to patient care, such as changing bed linens.
- Support patients with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
- Provide basic skin care and assist in preventing bed sores.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided.
- Follow all hospice protocols and adhere to safety and infection control policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in hospice, home care, or personal care is highly desirable.
- Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with patients facing terminal illnesses and provide emotional support to families.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the five-county region (Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties).
- Must pass a criminal background check as per state requirements.
