At Galeron Consulting Agency, we take pride in providing high-quality home care services to individuals throughout the Southeastern Pennsylvania region. We serve 113 different townships and boroughs across Bucks, Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Assistants to join our team. As a Special Needs Assistant, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being, comfort, and personal development. This role is ideal for candidates who have a passion for helping others and are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with special needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients in developing life skills, such as communication, mobility, and social interaction.
- Ensure a safe and structured environment for the client.
- Assist with educational activities and provide support with schoolwork or therapy exercises.
- Facilitate community integration by accompanying clients to social, recreational, and medical appointments.
- Provide behavioral support and implement strategies recommended by healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and medical professionals.
- Monitor and report any changes in the client’s condition to supervisors.
- Perform light housekeeping duties related to the client's care and well-being.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training in special education or disability support is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Special Needs Assistant, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or Caregiver is preferred.
- Understanding of various disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome, and developmental disorders.
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow care plans and therapeutic guidelines provided by healthcare professionals.
- Must be able to lift/move clients as needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Reliable transportation for travel to client locations.
Job Details
- Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Contract
- Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour
- Expected Hours: 20 – 60 per week

- 4-hour, 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour shifts
- Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Overnight shifts
- Weekend availability (as needed)
- Work Location: In-person (clients' homes and community settings)
