Overview
The Physician Compensation and Valuation team is dedicated to creating successful relationships between the organization, the practicing physicians, and the advanced practice practitioners (APPs). By carefully reviewing designing, and implementing total provider compensation plans, we help clients recruit, retain, and reward their most important assets - their providers.
To ensure the best possible outcomes, we assess all types of provider compensation arrangements from a fair market value and commercial reasonableness standpoint including employment, call coverage, professional services, medical directorships, and co-management agreements. Our experienced consultants provide innovative solutions that address the complexities of provider relationships in today's evolving healthcare landscape. Leveraging our database as the largest source of healthcare total compensation data available in the industry, our team provides healthcare-specific consulting services to a range of healthcare organizations including more than 1,200 healthcare providers, 1,800 hospitals, and 700 independent and affiliated medical groups.
How you'll make an impact
Project Management
- Participate and contribute to the project planning process.
- Manage assigned components of client projects using resources provided.
- Utilize project management tools to meet budgets and deadlines.
- Keep team informed of project statuses.
Research, Analysis, and Interpretation
- Demonstrate thoroughness, accuracy of research, and familiarity with data sources.
- Creatively analyze problems or situations effectively and with the appropriate level of detail.
- Take direction and incorporate feedback or suggestions for alternative approaches and analyses.
- Thoroughly prepare and check data and information for accuracy before it is presented to senior consultants and/or clients.
- Become knowledgeable about all sources of data required for analyses.
- Become efficient in reviewing data to extract required compensation and financial information.
Writing, Presentation Development, and Quality Control
- Produce high quality, error free, accurate work products.
- Maintain quality image through thoughtful, careful analysis, checking and proofing.
- Utilize peer and supervisory review to check accuracy.
- Draft reports and/or presentations of analyses and recommendations.
Client Interaction
- Deal diplomatically with client personnel at all levels, securing needed data and resources.
- Respond quickly and completely to client requests, keeping other Consultants on the project informed of any communications.
- May assist in interviewing executives and/or physicians to collect data and learn perceptions.
- May participate in client meetings.
Technical
- Assist in the design and development of compensation programs to address client needs.
- Show proficiency in use of consulting tools such as surveys and market charts.
- Develop knowledge of market pricing, basic salary administration practices, types of health care organizations and survey benchmark jobs.
- Become familiar with data and learn how to create peer groups and conduct pay analyses, and compile & calculate market pay value.
- Maintain quality of data in client database.
Staff Development and Training
- Demonstrate ability to work with and train/educate analysts on compensation principles, methodologies, and practices.
Team Support
- Active survey participation solicitation including soliciting all required assigned clients and non-clients.
- Completion of annual non-billable projects as assigned.
- Willing to take on team projects.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of healthcare and/or consulting experience.
- Analytical experience in executive and/or physician compensation desirable.
Additional Considerations:
- A strong background in finance, health care operations, or consulting.
- A good understanding of health care organizations and economics.
- Strong professional written and oral communication skills.
- Good persuasion and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attentiveness to detail.
- Solid project management skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
