  • Mon-Thursday 3:00-6:00
  • Friday 2:00-5:30

Provides direct supervision of a group of children aged 5-12 in the After School Program. Providing a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises a group of children with a creative, fun, positive attitude.
  • Implement program activities and curriculum that is culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with YMCA values.
  • Assists with homework help.
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp or after school setting.
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Infant/Child/Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
  • Occasionally must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
