Job Title: General Manager – Recycling Company
Reports To: CEO
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Manager (GM) to oversee the daily operations of our recycling company. The GM will be responsible for managing all aspects of the business, ensuring the efficient and safe collection, processing, and recycling of materials. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of the recycling industry, and a passion for environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the recycling facility, ensuring efficient workflows, equipment management, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Optimize operational processes for material collection, sorting, processing, and delivery to end-users or suppliers.
- Monitor facility performance metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of employees, including production staff, drivers, and administrative personnel.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing support for employee development.
- Budget & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the budget, ensuring profitability while maintaining high-quality standards and environmental compliance.
- Analyze financial reports and adjust strategies to meet financial goals, control costs, and maximize revenue.
- Implement cost-control measures and ensure effective resource allocation.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers to ensure favorable terms and a steady flow of recyclable materials.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to promote services and develop new business opportunities in the recycling sector.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and health and safety standards.
- Monitor and enforce workplace safety protocols, ensuring the safety of all personnel and minimizing the risk of workplace accidents.
- Oversee audits and inspections by regulatory bodies, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Strategic Planning & Innovation:
- Work closely with the executive team to set long-term business goals, objectives, and strategic direction.
- Identify opportunities for innovation in recycling technologies, processes, and business practices to stay competitive in the market.
- Implement sustainability initiatives to enhance the company's environmental impact and market positioning.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare regular reports on operational performance, financial status, and progress towards goals for senior management.
- Ensure clear and transparent communication between departments and with stakeholders, keeping everyone informed about company objectives and performance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a management role within the recycling or waste management industry, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of recycling processes, equipment, and industry best practices.
- Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and financial forecasts.
- In-depth understanding of environmental regulations and industry standards.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP software, and other relevant tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or process optimization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
