Join our dynamic team as an Engineer 1, where you will play a crucial role in driving supplier quality performance and protecting our brand. Under general supervision, you will apply and ensure the execution of food safety, quality assurance procedures, and quality systems, acting as a functional liaison to align quality assurance objectives consistently.

As an Engineer 1, you will investigate ideas and opportunities to enhance our competitiveness, improve throughput, and reduce operational costs. You will implement operations policies, procedures, systems, and strategies against corporate quality standards. Functioning as Quality's primary contact, you will address quality/food safety issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives for specified suppliers to the winery.

Your role will involve driving audits, corrective actions, and presenting updates to Quality and Ops management. You will facilitate root-cause analysis for quality/food safety issues, apply statistical techniques to sampling protocols, and conduct monthly quality reviews with suppliers and operations teams. You may participate in creating and maintaining scorecards, reporting on quality scorecards, corrective actions, and next steps at stakeholder meetings.

You will support supplier quality improvement through targeted projects for high-risk suppliers and execute qualifications and verification programs to ensure brand protection. Participation in food safety and quality audit programs, including supplier or co-manufacturer sites, will be essential. You will be responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree Food Science, Enology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology plus 2 years of quality assurance/quality control, production, operations, winemaking, or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility.
  • OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of quality assurance/quality control, production, operations, winemaking, or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Research and problem-solving skills
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, plus 1 year of quality assurance systems management experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility.
  • Experience auditing food safety or quality systems.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated team building, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated use of root cause analysis or Lean tools.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience making effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
  • Skilled in applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Skilled in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, or factor analysis.
  • Experience building relationships and influencing organizational functions such as Operations, Engineering, Supplier Development, and Supply Chain.
  • Skilled in the use of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level; additionally, experienced in LiveLink, Minitab, WineManager, and LIMS.
  • Experience with Food and Beverage industry best practices, FDA regulations, and quality systems.
  • Experience effectively responding to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Excellent organization and negotiation skills.
  • Experience handling multiple projects and effectively managing timelines.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE/CQA Certifications.

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $59,375.00 - $89,015.00 / Anually
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
