Join our innovative team at Galloway as a Product Development Specialist! You will play a vital role in the creation, testing, and refinement of new and existing products and prototypes, focusing on cutting-edge dairy processes and ingredients. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Quality Assurance, and Production, to develop products that align with Galloway’s strategic objectives and meet customer expectations. This position requires a deep understanding of food science principles and a passion for creating industry-leading products.
Primary Responsibilities:
Product Development: Lead the formulation, testing, and refinement of new dairy-based beverages (with and without alcohol), frozen dessert mixes, and food ingredients, ensuring high quality, consistency, and alignment with industry standards.
Pilot Plant Prototyping: Operate our state-of-the-art pilot plant to test and develop formulations according to project and customer needs.
Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept to launch, coordinating with teams and adhering to timelines and budgets.
Research and Innovation: Conduct research on emerging trends, ingredients, and technologies to inspire product innovation and align with customer and market demands.
Sensory and Analytical Testing: Perform sensory and analytical testing, and interpret results to refine product attributes, flavor profiles, and textures.
Technical Documentation: Document formulations, processes, and product specifications to ensure accurate and compliant records.
Collaboration with Sales Team: Work directly with the Sales Team to understand customers’ requirements, gather feedback, and develop custom formulations that meet their specifications.
Regulatory Compliance: Work with Compliance and Food Safety Teams to ensure all products meet relevant regulatory standards, including food safety, labeling, and nutritional guidelines.
Quality Assurance Support: Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure that products are manufactured to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field, with an MS degree being a plus. They should possess 2 years of experience in food product development, particularly in dairy or food ingredients, and 1-3 years of R&D or Product Development experience in the Food Industry. Experience in a cross-functional team environment, especially with production and quality teams, is essential. Strong technical skills in food science principles, formulation, and processing, along with hands-on experience in sensory evaluation and product testing, are required.
