Position Overview:
The Revenue Cycle / Insurance Coordinator will be responsible for managing the billing, claims submission, and collections processes for our dental office. This includes verifying insurance information, submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring that revenue cycles are completed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience with dental insurance procedures and a strong understanding of the revenue cycle process. Experience with Denticon is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification & Authorization:
- Verify patient insurance coverage prior to appointments.
- Obtain pre-authorizations for necessary dental procedures.
- Keep updated records of patient insurance details in the system.
Claims Management
- Submit clean claims to insurance providers in a timely manner.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve issues.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, adjustments, and rejections.
- Appeal denied claims and resubmit as needed.
Billing & Collections:
- Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Review and process EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) from insurance companies.
- Handle patient billing inquiries and payment arrangements.
- Work with patients on resolving outstanding balances.
Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Monitor and report on revenue cycle metrics, including aging reports, claim rejections, and denial rates.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for audits and internal reviews.
Collaboration & Customer Service:
- Collaborate with dental office staff, including dentists and hygienists, to ensure proper coding and insurance compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with patients regarding billing, insurance questions, and payment plans.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a dental office or healthcare setting, specifically in insurance coordination or revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge of dental insurance policies, including PPO, HMO, and DHMO.
- Experience with Denticon or similar dental practice management software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of billing and coding procedures for dental claims (CPT, ICD, CDT codes).
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
- Ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and office staff.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to problem-solve and handle challenging situations with a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or certification in healthcare administration, medical billing, or a related field.
- Knowledge of local and national dental insurance providers.
