We custom manufacture complete systems for storefronts, curtain walls, skylights, interior glass walls, solariums, sunrooms, and a broad spectrum of exterior and interior architectural metal components. Currently, we are seeking a full-time, detail-oriented Purchasing and Inventory Specialist to join our team and grow within our organization. Day-to-day, you will focus on data entry into our inventory system, monitoring levels of goods in our facility and reordering as needed, researching alternative suppliers as needed, and coordinating/following up with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely, accurate delivery of products to the warehouse. You may also assist in the receiving, storing, recording, managing, and distributing processes of our products and supplies. Training will be performed on the job.
Additional duties and responsibilities may include:
- Researching and comparing alternative suppliers for the best deal.
- Performing follow-up and negotiation calls with our suppliers.
- Coordinating with sales and production teams to ensure materials are reserved correctly for products and reordering when levels are low.
- Employing strategies to reduce costs and improve supply chain procedures.
- Coordinating with local vendors, bending shops, paint shops, and overseas suppliers for accurate and timely deliveries.
- Ordering stock hardware, non-stock hardware (per job basis), glass, specialty items, rubber gaskets, insulation, extrusions, Gamco-branded merchandise, office supplies (including materials, perishables, food/drink, holiday box lunches, gifts, etc.), and all other materials as necessitated by the company.
- Examining the levels of raw materials and supplies to determine shortages.
- Update inventory records from hardware pickup slips, packing lists, material consumption lists, etc.
- Conduct periodic cycle counts for hardware, extrusions, and other supplies.
- Employing our inventory tracking system for optimized inventory control procedures.
- Assist in software implementation, print barcode labels, update barcode directory, allocate storage areas, and update locations.
- Reconcile hot items for replenishment.
- Update logs and inventory records, and generate monthly ending inventory values.
- Assist sales in notifying door and window supervisors of to-be-shipped items.
- Receive extrusions, hardware, glass, gaskets, accessories, and other supplies from vendors, UPS, Amazon, etc., handle paperwork upon shipment receipt, and ensure accuracy of packing lists and purchase orders.
- Ensure material is functional and is of sufficient quality/quantity.
- Packaging products to return to vendors and filling out any paperwork or reports necessary.
- Account for location of incoming goods storage and ensure enough room is clear for receiving.
- Periodic organization of storage area.
- Informing supervisor/management team about inventory level and tracking via reports.
- Hardware pick-up and delivery to sales and fabricators.
- All other duties as outlined by the supervisor.
Hours and Details
- Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Some Saturdays at the employer's schedule for cycle counts, etc.
- Pay commensurate with experience/qualifications.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with Inflow Inventory is a plus, but not required.
- Degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management, or similar preferred, but not required.
- Experience in purchasing, inventory, or similar role is a plus.
- Experience working with inventory management software and forecasting strategies is a plus.
- Able to reliably lift 30-50 pounds.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Skills in conducting tracking and data analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing industry practices and operations is a plus.
- Product and inventory management certification is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem solver and researcher.
- Strong communicator and negotiator.
- Highly proactive.
- A second language of ( or Cantonese) is a plus.
