Job Description

The Senior Technical Project Manager (STPM) plays a crucial role in the end-to-end delivery of large, high-complexity projects. This includes providing technical support and consultancy services.


Project Closure

  • Accountable for measuring project objectives and benefits, including Critical Success Factors defined in the Charter.
  • Responsible for facilitating Lessons Learned sessions and collating feedback.
  • Responsible for prioritizing improvements from Lessons Learned and assigning action owners.
  • Responsible for driving improvements by following up with action owners.
  • Accountable for closing the project using the appropriate process.
  • Accountable for communicating project closure to stakeholders.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluates processes while considering overall business objectives.
  • Implements, documents, and communicates process improvement initiatives.

Operationalisation

  • Responsible for executing and communicating Deployment Plans (Pre-Go Live, Go Live, and Post-Go Live tasks).
  • Responsible for arranging training for production teams to support products after go-live.
  • Responsible for arranging training for operators to use products after go-live.
  • Responsible for engaging and communicating with external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring resourcing availability for go-live monitoring and troubleshooting.

People Management

  • Accountable for line and performance management of a team of technical project managers.
  • Accountable for establishing the organization structure, hiring, and managing staff.
  • Accountable for delegating work to the project management team.
  • Accountable for coaching and mentoring.

Initiation and Planning

  • Accountable for end-to-end project planning and a Project Management Plan.
  • Responsible for defining roles and responsibilities for the project team and stakeholders (RACI) in the Charter.
  • Responsible for setting up Project Governance and Systems to effectively manage the project.
  • Accountable for creating, implementing, and maintaining the Project Schedule.

Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible for agreeing priority improvements identified from project lessons learned.
  • Responsible for researching new ways of working and recommending delivery efficiency improvements.
  • Accountable for defining and implementing project management best practice.
  • Accountable for implementing project management knowledge sharing.
  • Responsible for facilitating and implementing project and process improvements and efficiencies.

Problem Reviews

  • Investigating and responding to development queries.
  • Problem investigation, replication, classification, and/or providing potential solutions.
  • Investigation, verification, and providing technical feedback for live issues.
  • Technical analysis of impacted software systems and providing potential solutions.
  • Establishing business impact through technical analysis.

Strategic Planning

  • Responsible for working with Business Units to define and prioritize roadmaps.
  • Responsible for assisting Business Units with Roadmaps as required.
  • Responsible for impact assessing and prioritizing roadmap changes in collaboration with Business Units.
  • Responsible for keeping roadmaps up to date after changes and communicating as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Project Objectives and Critical Success Factors are aligned to Business Unit strategies.

Environment Maintenance

  • Handles environment reprovisions and takes full responsibility for Environment Maintenance and configuration.
  • Environment troubleshooting/analysis.
  • Conducting installations (Games, Playcheck, and back office).

Benefits Realisation

  • Responsible for assisting Business Units in getting required benefits monitoring and reporting in place.
  • Responsible for actively tracking and measuring Project Benefits, including Critical Success Factors.

Executing, Monitoring, and Controlling

  • Accountable for proactively tracking the end-to-end project schedule and driving corrective action where required.
  • Accountable for stakeholder management regarding the project.
  • Responsible for proactively managing risks, issues, and dependencies on the project.
  • Responsible for proactively managing change - including Time, Cost, and Scope changes.
  • Responsible for executing on the Project Communication Plan and ensuring relevant stakeholders are kept informed.
  • Responsible for tracking project decisions made on the project.
  • Responsible for monitoring costs on the project, as required by the Business Unit.
  • Responsible for supporting Product Owner in quality product delivery.
  • Accountable for project status reporting as defined in a Communication Plan or as required by the Business Unit.

Deployment Preparation

  • Conducting releases (Games, Playcheck, and back office).
  • Update game configuration (when necessary).

Qualifications:

  • Rlevant tertiary qualification BSC/B-comm I Business Diploma (3yrs) / Adv Management Diploma preferable

Experience:

  • Mentorship and/or coaching is an advantage.
  • Experience in the end-to-end delivery of large sized, high complexity projects.
  • Minimum of 6 years Project Management experience with a minimum of 2 years technical experience.
  • Strong understanding of Business Objectives.
  • Strong Technical Background.
  • Expert knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or IT Delivery Cycle.
  • Expert knowledge of software project management.
