SUMMARY
Working with general supervision, the Transaction Assurance Associate Analyst performs various accounting and analyst duties related to sales audit, card processing, and card/cash payment reconciliations. The primary business outcome for the role is to increase profitability through accurate and timely validation and reconciliation of sales and other critical business transactions. Coordinating with supervisors, an associate in this position will assist in performing sales audit and daily/monthly account reconciliation duties. Associates in the role will also assist the manager in performing special projects, with an emphasis on improving team processes and procedures. This position requires timely reporting to management and field. Associate may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor’s advance approval.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Complete sales exception audits and credit/cash reconciliations accurately and within GameStop’s expected timeframe
- Research and resolve audit exceptions using available tools, including sales audit, reconciliations, and POS systems as well as other down-stream systems
- Compile sales audit and reconciliation results and perform business analysis on audit trends for management using Excel and Business Intelligence tools
- Prepare journal entries for review and process information to meet other accounting requirements
- Prepare monthly General Ledger account reconciliations
- Assist Transaction Assurance supervisors with training of new associates
- Collaborate within the Transaction Assurance team to identify and report process and system related issues and improvement opportunities; follow up to resolution
- Assist Transaction Assurance Manager with special projects, as necessary
- Maintain intradepartmental relationships as it pertains to job responsibilities

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of general accounting experience; SOX experience preferred
- Experience working within reconciliation or sales audit software preferred (e.g., Blackline, ReconNET, Aptos)
- Proven ability to quickly learn and optimize the use of technologies preferred
- Retail experience preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of accounting reconciliation processes, credit card processing, and cash management functions
- Basic/working knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills using basic English
- Ability to enter, retrieve, analyze, recognize discrepancies, organize, and report electronic financial data.
- Detail oriented and effective at researching issues and problem solving
- Proficient knowledge of office computer platforms and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
