What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gaming Mathematician position at Gaming Arts?
Gaming mathematicians are responsible for the development of mathematical related work product including game mathematic calculations and probabilities, simulations, game evaluation code and technical documentation for all of the company's product lines, including reel slot games, electronic table games, bingo and keno games, casino promotions, bingo gaming machines and interactive social poker products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Takes ownership of the game's math for each product assigned from end to end. Must have "will get it done" work ethic with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Use and develop proprietary tools to generate slot, bingo, keno and electronic table game math models and math-specific game code.
- Create supporting documentation for slot, bingo, keno and electronic table game math models and tools.
- Develop game rules, data structures, and pay tables for slot, bingo, keno, and electronic table games.
- Review, verify, and support game math models from third parties.
- Actively participate in game design team discussions and generate new concepts for games.
- Work with engineers and designers to develop proof of concept and feasibility of game concepts.
- Work with engineers to develop game evaluation code for game concepts
- Work with engineers to verify math model is properly implemented.
- Interface with product test department and regulatory agencies to prove and verify math models and address issues.
- Develop Monte Carlo simulations and analysis of new and existing math models.
- Participate in regular status meetings with all necessary stakeholders.
- Self-starter, self-sufficient, and self-reliant to accomplish required tasks.
- Accountable to deliver quality work product consistently and on time.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related fields.
- Expertise with C , C#, JavaScript or similar object-oriented programming language.
- Three to five years of work experience or strong academic background in mathematics of probability, statistics, and linear algebra.
- Knowledge of Monte Carlo simulation methods
- Three to five years of working programming experience
- Fluent in MS Office applications, familiarity with VBA macro development a plus.
- Excellent communication and organization skills, flexibility and the proven ability to develop math related work product from start to finish.
- Strong technical writing ability a plus.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of slot, bingo, keno and other game types.
- Knowledge of gaming regulations pertaining to casino game math development a plus
- A plus for candidates with experience in social gaming and/ or online based gaming.
- Appreciation of game play and game theory.
This position may require registration with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and/or other gaming jurisdictions in which we operate.
