Job Overview
Gan Chabad Children's House, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher Assistant to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will support the lead teacher in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. This role involves working closely with children ages 15 months - 4 years old. You will be assisting in their overall development, and ensuring that educational standards are met within the Judaic principles in our Montessori-inspired environment.
Part-time Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 -4:30pm
Responsibilities
- Helps and supervises children during all activities
- Aids in preparation for group activities and materials for the classroom shelves
- Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom and playground are appropriately maintained
- Helps children with meal times, clean-up and toileting
- Helps with classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Participates in Judaic practices within the school curriculum (prayers in song, blessings over food and read alouds)
Skills
- Background in childcare with experience working with children under 6 years
- Proficient in behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions among students
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and families
- Strong organizational skills to maintain an effective classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position, including completion of 45 hours required by DCF
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age
- Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
- Highly professional and dependable
- Must be able to interact appropriately with students of all ages and skill levels as well as with parents, coworkers, and management
