As a Rooms Coordinator you are responsible for room assignments at McMurdo Station, including tracking movement in and out of the station, updating the community phone list, and providing customer service to the McMurdo community. POSITION : Rooms Coordinator
SEASON : Austral Summer (August-March)
LOCATION : McMurdo Station, Antarctica
SECTOR / DEPT : Gana-A'Yoo Services Corporation (GSC) Antarctica
WAGE : $801-$1,013 per week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Works with the Lodging Manager to plan for all incoming resident placement.
- Communicates each day's linen needs to the Steward Coordinator.
- Receives communications from the Helicopter Coordinator, Fixed Wing Coordinator, Air Services Coordinator and / or Area Management in order to plan for accommodations for arriving inland and field camp personnel.
- Tracks the movement of McMurdo residents to and from field camps, other Antarctic stations, and Christchurch.
- Coordinates with the Chalet Admin and Communications Coordinator to provide updates to the online community phone list on daily basis.
- Assists the Lodging Coordinator, Assistant when creating key packets for incoming flights or field camp members
- Shares duty of presenting arrival briefs for incoming residents.
- Provides customer service to community for lodging issues.
- Assists with room inspections as needed.
- Send weekly dorm population updates to the Lead Water Plant Operator.
- Send weekly rosters to all of the RAs.
- Handles confidential matters (personnel actions, management reports, lodging issues, etc.) in accordance with management policy.
- Interacts with the National Science Foundation, military and other agency officials, both over the telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.
- Provides direct support, using staff resources if necessary, to the achievement of all metrics related to ASC.
- Complies with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance, requirements and goals. Provides documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
- Works to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments
- Participates in MCI trainings and drill as determined by supervisor.
- Could be asked to perform janitorial duties if needed.
- May be required to perform duties requiring repetitive motion.
- Must be able to lift the safety regulation maximum on limited basis.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
- Performs other duties as required.
