  • Job Title :

    The Peer / Family Specialist supports person in need of psychiatric services to live independently in the community. She / him works within the Agency's Team Model, establishing open communication, support, and accountability among co-workers.

    Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Helps develop Person's confidence in order articulate their goals for recovery
  • Interacts with Persons in order to assess needs, Provide information, discuss problems, identify patterns and stressors, and encourage growth and development.
  • works with and support individuals to prepare for variety of formal and informal meetings including treatment planning , employment services and social engagements
  • At the request of the Person may transport Person in matters related to service delivery, E.G. medical appointment, shopping, job interviews, vocational programs, banking, etc.
  • Assists Persons with activities of daily living E.G. food shopping and preparation, housekeeping, laundry, budget / banking
  • Informs , trains support and empowers individuals using mental Health Services
  • Promotes understanding of each person's cultural identity to be able to enhance support and respect of the person choice.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Actively support the philosophy of the Agency
  • Maintian high level of commitment to the program
  • Selif-intiated
  • Driver’s License and automobile required
  • Open, direct inrerpersonal style; works well as a team member
  • Organized; efficient; flexable; and dependable
  • Demostrates patience
  • caring and compassion
  • performs well under stress in the event of a crisis
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) encouraged to apply
