Position Summary
The Gannon University MakerSpace Lead Technician is focused on assisting the MakerSpace in its daily operations while also serving as support between departments to support the university’s broader technical needs. This position will provide technical expertise in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading lab facilities located within the 10,000 sq ft MakerSpace. Additionally, the role will bridge the gap between the MakerSpace and other departments, providing trainings for students of all majors, support other departments in bringing projects through the lab, and offering workshops to integrate the MakerSpace into existing courses.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Knowledge of technologies normally associated with a MakerSpace or fabrication facility, including metal working, woodworking, 3D printing, welding, CAD , CAM , and CNC operation.
- Associate degree in Machining, CNC , or drafting or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with students and other departments.
- Basic IT support skills (software installation, hardware troubleshooting, etc.).
- Strong understanding of lab equipment operation, maintenance, and repair
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a technical support or lab management role.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and inventory management.
- Ability to provide training to students and users
- Proficient use of CAD software, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion360, Creo or others.
