Garbage to Garden, Inc. is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals to join our team as Field Operators (Route Drivers) to help us collect food scraps from the growing number of Maine households and businesses composting with us.
Field Operators are trained to operate a truck and trailer on independent collection routes in the Greater Portland area. We’re looking for candidates with:
- Clean driving history- Safety is key! Our Route Drivers operate vehicles & equipment in accordance with Garbage to Garden Official Standards and safety rules, OSHA, and DOT as well as all local, state and federal laws
- Good communication skills- Operators complete pre & post trip inspections, follow route assignments as directed, and communicate regularly with Operations Manager and Dispatch
- Work ethic and integrity both independently and in team environments- We’re saving the planet after all!
Qualifications:
- Non-CDL/Standard Class C driving license with a clean driving record.
- Preferred: Experience operating a trailer is preferred but not required. We will teach!
- Preferred: Experience operating a vehicle requiring CDL / a valid Class A or B CDL is a plus!
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Capable motor coordination; arm, hand, legs.
- Able to exert physical effort in handling (pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.) objects more than 75 pounds frequently.
