As part of the in-house legal team, you will work for the Assistant General Counsel and with our Safety Director and Risk Manager to reduce our risk in these areas.Key Responsibilities : Claims Management : Oversee the management of general liability and auto liability insurance claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and insurance requirements.Work closely with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party adjusters to assess claims and negotiate settlements.Review and analyze incident reports, contracts, and insurance policies to determine coverage and liability.Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on risk management and accident prevention strategies.Litigation Oversight : Manage and direct the defense of lawsuits related to general liability and auto liability claims, including evaluating claims, selecting outside counsel, and overseeing litigation strategy.Review and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements.Represent the company in litigation, mediations, and arbitrations.Monitor the progress of litigation, ensuring that cases are handled efficiently and in alignment with the company's goals.Risk Assessment and Legal Guidance : Provide proactive legal advice and recommendations on insurance coverage, risk exposure, and potential liabilities.Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to insurance claims and risk management.Collaboration and Reporting : Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including corporate, leadership, finance, compliance, and operations, to address legal and insurance issues.Report regularly to senior management and executives on the status of claims, litigation matters, and risk management efforts.Provide ongoing education and training to internal stakeholders on insurance-related claims and legal matters.Qualifications : Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active state bar membership and eligibility to practice law.Strong understanding of insurance policy terms, conditions, and exclusions related to general and auto liability, or ability to learn these under the AGC.Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal issues clearly and concisely.Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
