Garden City Janitorial is seeking a motivated and reliable Floor Technician to join our team and work under the direct supervision of our Lead Floor Technician. This position plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality floor care services to our clients. The Floor Technician will assist with routine and specialized floor maintenance, including both hard surface and carpeted areas, while collaborating closely with our lead technician. All necessary equipment, supplies, and company vehicles are provided.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing floors using appropriate tools and products
- Support carpet cleaning procedures including pre-treatments, spot removal, and operating carpet machines
- Operate floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, polishers, and carpet machines
- Help clean and maintain floor care equipment after use
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals, using equipment, and loading and unloading of supplies/equipment per OSHA standards
- Perform general custodial duties, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas
- Work closely with the Lead Floor Technician to ensure service quality and efficiency
Qualifications:
- Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience required
- Familiarity with floor care equipment and techniques required
- Clean driving record in the last 7 years and a valid driver's license required
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Willingness to learn and adapt to various cleaning methods and environments
