Position: Head Girls' Basketball Coach
Location: Garden City High School

Job Summary
Garden City High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated leader to serve as the Head Girls' Basketball Coach. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the girls' basketball program, including player development, team performance, coaching staff supervision, and program culture. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a competitive and disciplined program that aligns with the values of Garden City Public Schools - demanding excellence, cultivating community, promoting character, and inspiring courage.
Essential Responsibilities
- Program Leadership: Develop and lead a high-quality basketball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Player Development: Implement player development programs to enhance individual and team performance, ensuring student-athletes reach their full potential on and off the court.
- Game Strategy & Coaching: Plan and execute well planned game strategies, conduct effective practice sessions, and provide in-game coaching to maximize team success.
- Mentorship & Culture Building: Foster a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team environment that supports academic success, character development, and leadership skills.
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, mentor, and oversee assistant coaches to maintain a cohesive coaching staff.
- Program Management: Oversee budgeting, fundraising, and equipment management in collaboration with the Athletic Director.
- Community & School Engagement: Act as an ambassador for the program, engaging with parents, boosters, and the local community to promote school spirit and support.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all coaching activities align with Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) regulations, school policies, and athletic department expectations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education preferred.
- Experience: Prior high school or college coaching experience required; head coaching experience preferred.
- Certification: Must be able to gain a Kansas teaching licesnse.
