JOB SUMMARY:
The Wellness Coordinator is a key position in our thriving, well-established, award winning assisted living community. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure quality care from caregiving staff.
- Create/maintain staffing schedule with limited overtime.
- Paid On-call for: staffing needs, fill-in for shifts on occasion, and providing directions to staff as needed.
- Supervising staff in dispensing of medication to residents and ensure that related paperwork is completed appropriately.
- Assist LVN in pre-appraisal & re-appraisal of residents for appropriateness in our setting.
- Attend and contribute to resident care conferences with LVN and families.
- Ensure that Med Techs are communicating with residents and families to ensure that all medical needs of residents are met. Contact physicians when necessary.
- Inform dietary services of any special diet needs of residents under direction from LVN.
- Ensure that hospice residents are receiving quality care, emergency medication and that staff and family are kept in the communication loop.
- Train staff in community policies and procedures with emphasis on the wellness department procedures.
- Oversee all ordering of pharmaceuticals, medical and caregiving supplies.
- Ensure that narcotic medication is maintained under lock and key with limited access and inventoried on regular basis per licensing regulations.
- Ensure that all care staff receive the appropriate training as required by state regulations.
- Coordinate the overseeing of training for Med Techs and caregivers.
- Review daily care log and address any pending problems.
- Ensure that incident reports are submitted to the administrator.
- Supervise care staff on the floor on a daily basis.
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Must be proficient with Word, Excell, Outlook
- Able to learn our Computer based MAR system
- Proficient in handwritten reporting
- Familiar with Title 22 and other pertinent State and federal laws and regulations
- Able to follow Cal/OSHA safety guidelines
- Human resources principles and timekeeping practices
- Must understand Dementia and the aging process
SKILLS:
- Must have 2 years’ experience in Senior Living experience
- Must have 2 years’ experience management experience
- Able to lead a team and foster teamwork with all departments
- Must be flexible in availability and additional responsibilities
- Strong written and oral expression skills
- Able to follow physician’s direction and care plans
- Able to solve problems effectively
- Able to coordinate multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously
GOALS:
- Error free medication program
- Care Plans are up to date and followed 100% of the time
- Ensure that the MAR and all related documentation is properly completed
- Ensure that caregiving staff training is completed annually, as required by DSS standard
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
