Full Time Assistant! The Activity Assistant is responsible for all aspects of the Activity Program in the absence of the Activity Director at Garden Estates Assisted Living and Independent Living. The position requires a great deal of creativity and flexibility. The Activity Assistant assures residents are kept safe during activities.
The Activity Assistants assists the direct care staff in keeping the residents involved in the unit socially, cognitively , and recreationally. The Activities Assistant ensures that scheduled programming is carried out according to the posted at all times ; for example, Bible devotion, various games, church services, bus outings etc. The activity Assistant is responsible to keep the Activity Director informed on need of the programs and / or changes in the residents’ ability to actively participate in the programs. Some weekends, evenings, and holidays are possibly required.
Essential Duties

• Answers questions and assists residents as needed throughout the day. Solves problems as they arise.
• Assists in dining room with meal service for those meals that occur during shift, which may include set-up of dining room, delivering meals, refilling drinks, clearing plates, and clean-up, as assigned.
• Demonstrates ability to handle several tasks at the same time while maintaining a calm and efficient demeanor.
• Maintains confidentiality if all pertinent information concerning residents and staff.
• Is fully knowledgeable of the five evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participates as assigned in fire and disaster drills.
• Performs a variety of activity department duties as assigned, which may include some of the following duties:
• Assists in planning, preparing and implementing the daily schedule/program for members; ensures members’ involvement in meaningful and enjoyable activities .
• Assists and demonstrates assigned duties to volunteers.
• Assists in shopping for, maintaining, and controlling inventory of activity equipment and supplies.
• Promotes and facilitates good morale and cheerfulness among residents and staff; utilizes appropriate and effective approaches/techniques for serving individuals with dementia.
• Provides protective supervision (observing and monitoring) of all residents.
• Follows the standards of safety and sanitation within the Center; complies with all related licensing requirements.
• Assists in general clean up and maintenance of the Center.
• Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related
experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
