What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club?
Position Purpose & Summary
The position contributes to our success by providing prompt, courteous service for our members and guests at our in-house Beach & Cable Barista. Creates a welcoming experience by providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.
Essential Functions:
- Interacts with members and guests to take beverage and food orders.
- Ensures prompt and consistent delivery of quality beverages and food products for all members and guests by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
- Anticipates member and/or guest and outlet needs by constantly evaluating the environment and noting cues; discovers and responds to member and/or guest needs.
- Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep outlet operating to standards and to set a positive example for the team.
- Communicates with kitchen for food ordering.
- Handle all checks and cash according to established procedures.
- Communicates information to manager / supervisor so that the team can respond as necessary to create the appropriate environment during each shift.
- Assists with new team member training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
- Contributes to positive team environment by recognizing changes in employee morale and/or performance and communicating them to the outlet manager / supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that staff can locate resources and products, as needed.
- Is familiar with all property amenities and other restaurants.
- Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the property's culture, mission and values.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Deliver "I Am Proud" service standards and department-specific signature touch points.
- Establish cross-departmental channels of communication among teammates that are consistent and complete.

Position Requirements:
- Minimum Knowledge & Skills: Good food and service knowledge; ability to learn quickly.
- Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: High School diploma or equivalent.

- Daily - Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
- Weekly - Report to supervisor on weekly basis and discuss ways to improve the department, what works what doesn't?
- Occasionally - Participate in one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: This position requires continuous teamwork as well as internal and cross-departmental communication.
