Job Summary:
Garden Specialties, a specialty garden and gift store, is seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Assistant Manager to support daily operations. This role involves supervising staff, assisting customers, managing inventory, and ensuring a smooth and efficient store environment. The ideal candidate has retail experience, leadership skills, and a passion for customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the owner in overseeing daily operations.
- Collaborative with excellent communication skills.
- Reports to the owners of the store.
- Provide excellent customer service and advice.
- Supervise and support sales associates, ensuring a positive work environment.
- Handle customer inquiries, special orders, and resolve complaints.
- Process sales transactions and manage the point-of-sale (POS) system. Lightspeed experience is a plus.
- Monitor inventory levels, restock merchandise, and communicate with owners about low stock to reorder.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising displays.
- Support sales associates on a daily basis working collaboratively to provide the best employee environment and customer shopping experiences.
- Open and close the store as needed, handling cash and deposits.
- Support marketing efforts, promotions, social media posts, loyalty program and in-store events.
- E-commerce oversight, communication and customer service.
Qualifications:
- Previous retail and customer service experience required.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of gardening/gift stores, marketing and e-commerce is a plus.
- Collaborative, friendly and outgoing.
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and multitasking skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment and navigate stairs.
- Proficiency in POS systems and basic computer skills. Knowledge of Lightspeed POS a plus.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
