About the roleGarden State Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a full-time Lab Analyst, who will report to the PFAS Manager located in our newly certified Lakehurst, New Jersey Lab. This is a unique opportunity to assist in growing a new laboratory under the complete chemist model. The primary duty will be to analyze environmental samples using established methods (e.g. EPA 533) and technologies in a regulated environment. In this role, the Lab Analyst will be participating in all facets of lab operations, from sample receipt / chain of custody through preparation, instrumental analysis and data reduction.ResponsibilitiesReceive and maintain custody, control and integrity of environmental samples. Ensure that all necessary supplies required for the assigned tests are in stock and current, including shipping / receiving. Assist with general facility duties (reception, waste management / housekeeping etc.) Assist in the development / optimization of procedures and workflows. Maintain contemporaneous accurate documentation associated with the assigned analytical procedures, maintenance, and custodial activities. Ensure that all instruments and equipment used for sample analysis are calibrated and in good working order prior to any sample analysis. Prepare and perform sample analysis utilizing assigned instruments using current SOPs and within regulatory holding times. Submit all analytical results to the Technical Manager for review in a timely manner so as to meet client TATs and expectations. Perform troubleshooting of instruments and equipment as experience / skills allow. Conform to all GSL QA / QC practices. Maintain a clean and safe work environment for self and other lab employees as required by GSL health and safety guidelines. Notify management of any conditions that may adversely affect the suitability of validity of the requested analysis. Other duties may be assigned by the technical manager in order to accommodate short-term departmental needs. QualificationsExperience & Education Requirements : At least an associate degree in science or an equivalent two (2) years of environmental laboratory experience. BA / BS degree in science is preferred, but not required. Laboratory experience using Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and / or LC-MS / MS is a plus.Willing to train candidates with the right attitude and aptitude. Job Skills : SPE techniques LC-MS / MS operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting Flexibility and willingness to train Strong communication and multitasking skills Computer skills : Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
