N.G. Heimos Greenhouses of Millstadt, Illinois is seeking a seasonal Floating Garden Center Merchandiser to join our GardenPro Team. We are a commercial wholesale grower that supplies seasonal plants to multiple retailers throughout Missouri and Illinois. Our focus is providing and maintaining high-quality plants and superior customer service to our retail partners. This position is ideal for someone who loves plants, people, and working outdoors!
JOB EXPECTATIONS, DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
The first couple of weeks may only be part time hours until the plant shipments start coming in more. This is a season position with the tentative start date being March 10th and lasting until the 3rd week of June. Dates are subject to change. The Floating Merchandiser will be assigned to several Walmart stores (West Plains, Thayer, Mountain View, Houston, Ava, and Mountain Grove) Key responsibilities include; traveling to stores, offloading new shipments, watering and merchandising plants.
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work both independently and with team members, plant knowledge and customer service skills. Excellent communication with fellow Merchandisers, Regional Manager and Walmart Associates is crucial. This is a seasonal position with paid travel time (shift begins and ends at home). Traveling to multiple stores throughout the week is required. Both reliable transportation and a smart phone are a must-have. Merchandisers report to the Regional Manager.
FLOATING MERCHANDISER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel to assigned stores each day
- Utilize group chat to communicate with stores: checking-in/checking-out, daily updates and watering schedules
- Assist with offloading and displaying new shipments
- Maintain organization by merchandising plant displays
- Coordinate a watering schedule with Merchandisers and Walmart Associates to ensure plants are being watered everyday
- Assist in training new Merchandisers
- Identify when plants are ready to be marked-down
- Inventory clearance and waste plants with smart phone app
- Place stickers on clearance plants
- Assist customers with questions
- Keep Garden Center clean and swept
- Send Daily Report to Regional Manager at end of shift (including photos of completed work)
IMPORTANT!
- Must have RELIABLE transportation!
- Must be physically capable of working in hot and cold weather conditions (March - June)
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver heavy shipping carts
- Must be flexible to cover someone's shift (ex: a Merchandiser calls in sick)
- Must be available to work Saturdays (especially the Saturday before Easter & Mother's Day)
- Must have a smart phone with access to email and the ability to download necessary apps
**Once onboarding is completed, paid training will begin the following week.
Season ends the First Week of June.
