Job Title: Cook/Server – Assisted Living Facility

Job Summary: The Line Cook/Server will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals to residents in an assisted living community. This role involves both cooking and serving duties, ensuring that meals are delivered in a timely, friendly, and professional manner while adhering to safety and dietary guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Cooking Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals based on the menu provided, ensuring they meet nutritional and dietary needs of residents.
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and food safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, including sanitizing equipment and surfaces.
- Assist with meal planning in collaboration with the dietary manager and/or dietitian.
- Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and prepared to residents’ preferences.
- Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies when necessary.
Serving Responsibilities:
- Serve meals to residents in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner.
- Ensure residents’ dining experience is positive and assist with special requests.
- Respond to resident preferences or dietary restrictions, providing alternative meal options as needed.
- Clean and reset dining tables after each meal service.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of the dining room before and after service.
- Ensure dining room is maintained in a clean and welcoming environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous cooking and/or serving experience, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, team members, and family members.
- Compassionate, patient, and able to work with older adults.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Flexible, reliable, and capable of working as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in food safety or culinary arts.
- Experience in working with special dietary needs (e.g., low sodium, gluten-free, diabetic).
- Previous experience in assisted living or healthcare environments.
Work Environment:
- This position is based in an assisted living facility, with work performed in a kitchen and dining area.
- Must be able to handle the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Salary : $18 - $20
