Gardens for Living, a rapidly expanding company specializing in Landscape Installation, Irrigation, and Maintenance, is seeking an Experienced Gardener. The Gardening Crew Leader oversees and directs a team of gardeners in the maintenance and upkeep of outdoor living spaces. Their primary duties include managing crew schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring that all gardening work is completed to the highest quality standards. They are also responsible for providing excellent customer service to clients, addressing any concerns or requests, and ensuring their satisfaction. Additionally, they may be involved in the selection and procurement of plants, materials, and equipment needed for gardening projects. Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Sowing, cultivation, and propagation of plants, trees, and shrubs
- Application of chemical and organic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers
- Trimming and pruning of plants
- Soil management activities
- Cleaning and weeding
- Dig, lift, and operate small machines
- Load tools and equipment on and off trailers and trucks
- Move and install soil, mulch, and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas
- Work strategically to perform tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively while working with urgency and purpose
- Communicate with customers in a professional, polite, and courteous manner
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience in the landscape garden industry preferred
- Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective communication skills – must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs
- Time management skills
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to walk, stand, and crouch for long periods of time outdoors in various conditions, including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
Compensation
- Expect 40 – 50 hours per week in season (Approximately March 1 – December 15) and 40 hours out of season (weather dependent)
- Pay starts between $21.00 and $25.00 per hour, depending on experience
