TITLE: ADMINISTRATOR
JOB SUMMARY: The Administrator shall be under the direct supervision of Vice President of Operations. The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of each facility to ensure the safety of the residents and staff and to assure that each resident receives the highest standard of quality care. The Administrator serves as marketing representative to potential clients calling for information or visiting the facility. The Administrator interacts with representatives for other Health Care facilities and State Health Department Inspectors. The Administrator is appointed by the Governing Body and is responsible for regulatory compliance for the property. The Administrator will be on call to facilities 24 hours a day. Cell phone number will be posted and available to the staff at all times. May be required to fill in other positions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: Current Alabama license as Assisted Living Administrator. Must have a genuine interest in Senior Adults. Must have a proven track record of leadership and administrative skills. Must be a self-starter and be capable of making independent decisions and acting upon those decisions. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, residents, sponsors, and other members of the community. Must have an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
EDUCATION: College degree is desirable. High school education with healthcare experience is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger; reach with arms and hands; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; pivot; twist; turn; talk or hear; taste or smell. Must be able to lift, push and/or move at least 50 pounds in order to assist in life skills, such as bathing, physical rescue, and wheel chair assistance. Specific vision abilities may include close vision; color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Exposure to outside weather conditions while working with residents. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
EMPLOYMENT VARIABLE: Must have valid Alabama driver's license. May transport residents in car or van as necessary.
WORK PERFORMED:
- Overall responsibility for the provision of adequately trained and supervised staff to meet the needs of the residents. Inventory supplies and equipment to cover all service requirements. Maintenance of employee and resident records according to facility policy and procedure. Assures safety for residents and staff by routinely checking and documenting the proper maintenance of emergency equipment and performing monthly fire drills.
- Appropriate management of supplies, equipment, and time. Recognition of changes in the health of the residents and obtaining medical intervention as necessary. Ensuring that residents who have health or safety needs beyond the capability of the facility will be safely transferred or discharged to an appropriate setting. Maintaining current plans of care for each resident, including prearranged discharge plans. Implementation of rules and regulations governing Assisted Living Facilities and the correction of all deficient practices cited by the Department of Public Health.
- Interview prospective employees. Hire as needed according to their qualifications and property budget. Oversee training and orientation. Completion of all new employee paperwork.
- Make out staff time schedules. Reschedule as necessary to cover all
shifts
- Plan monthly in-service for all employees.
- Check for accuracy of time cards and submit payroll to corporate office
Bi-Weekly.
- Evaluate employees annually. Counsel employees as needed and document for future reference.
- Make out weekly grocery lists from inventory sheets. Place weekly food order.
- Obtain kitchen supplies as needed.
- Advise the cooks on menu changes and substitutions as needed.
- Assure completion and document monthly safety checks including monthly fire drills, one per shift per quarter.
- Notify sponsor of the need for annual physical exam for each resident.
- Collect monthly rent.
- Keep sponsors informed of resident's condition as necessary.
- Consult with Pharmacist regarding prescriptions as necessary.
- Consult with resident's physician as necessary.
- Fill out incident reports as necessary. Notify resident's family of all incidents. Seek medical attention as necessary. Investigate incidents and document results and take necessary corrective action.
- May be required to fill in other positions as needed
- Show perspective clients the facility. Discuss prices and answer questions.
- Market the property, give presentations to community groups, visit MD offices, hospitals, rehabilitation units, senior centers and other referral sources.
- Answer phone, schedule appointments give information, etc.
- Take call for evenings and weekends as needed. Carry cell phone to be available at all times.
- Manage property budget.
- Ensure proper operation of appliances, heating and air conditioning.
- Check buildings and furnishings for cleanliness and need for repair.
- Meet with State Health Department Surveyors. Provide information as requested.
- Other duties which may be assigned as stretch or specific request assignments for the betterment of the business. These duties will fall under the normal scope of your assignment as directed by your supervisor.
