Position Summary:
The Healthcare Market Focus Lead is a complex and impactful position on our team. Gardner’s healthcare team currently runs $30-$50 million dollars in revenue across several projects annually. As a Healthcare Market Focus Lead, you are the leader of multiple simultaneous healthcare projects and project teams, and are accountable for every aspect of the team’s success and the Healthcare Market Focus’ continued growth.
This position is highly specialized for a leader experienced in healthcare construction. It combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, client relations, and financial oversight with a focus on growing Gardner’s healthcare market presence. The ideal candidate must be deeply embedded in the healthcare sector, with exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute long-term and short-term strategic growth plans for the healthcare market focus, aligned with overall business objectives.
- Own and drive revenue targets for the healthcare market sector
- Identify and pursue new market sector business opportunities including new clients, strategic partnerships, and networking opportunities, aligned with company objectives
- Fosters lasting relationships and generates project leads through ongoing professional relationships with owner and design communities
- Collaborate with marketing, business development, and other teams to develop and drive market-focused initiatives
- Mentor, coach, and develop the internal project team, sharing industry insights to boost skills and drive success
- Provide preconstruction and budget expertise to enhance project assessments and budget planning
- Represent the healthcare market focus at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
- Lead the project teams through all construction projects to ensure successful outcomes, prioritizing hospitality and platinum standard delivery.
- Participate in proposal presentations, representing Gardner’s vision, mission, and experience
- Generate, monitor, and update project timeline; identify deliverables and task owners
- Oversee all financial aspects of the project: bidding, estimating, change orders, pay applications, trade partner and material invoices
- Quickly and professionally resolve all issues that may arise with the project on the job site or in the office, assuming responsibility and mobilizing appropriate parties
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with all team members and trade partners, including leading weekly project meetings and procurement meetings
- Ensure successfully close out of projects: oversee punch list process, implement project closeout checklist, ensure completion of all trades, submit final billings
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Embedded in the Healthcare market at-large with knowledge of the ownership groups and market trends.
- Established understanding of general contracting and the life cycle of a project specifically in the Healthcare
- Understanding of ICRA best practices, preferred CHC (Certified Healthcare Constructor) designation
- Experience in driving business growth with a focus on results and continuous improvement
- Ability to analyze sales, market, and performance data to make informed decisions and refine strategies
- Skill in managing and nurturing relationships with key clients and industry partners
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to inspire, mentor and lead teams, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability and trust
- Strong problem-solving skills to assess challenges, evaluate alternatives, and implement creative solutions
- Excellent estimating and technical writing skills, specifically in the Healthcare market
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, project scheduling applications, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to relay highly detailed information between project team, trade and design partners
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a project manager and/or project executive position.
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in engineering management, electrical or mechanical engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Healthcare construction related experience is required.
- Certified Healthcare Constructor designation preferred.
- Strong understanding of ICRA.
