Position Summary:
As a Service Carpenter, you will join a dedicated team of the most skilled professional carpenters in our industry. You will execute client service work requests that will include millwork installation and repairs up to small-scale remodel projects. This position is best suited for a high energy person who prides themselves in delivering the platinum standard, not only in performance but also in hospitality and communication.
The ideal applicant thrives on meeting and exceeding challenges, and must be able to rapidly pivot and change focus as projects vary in scope and complexity. You will work closely with the Service Project Manager to set goals, understand workload and deliver the Gardner Builders vision on all aspects of the position. Your work will help us build the Service Department and execute our company vision.
Responsibilities:
- Complete service requests and warranty work for clients as directed by supervisors and project managers.
- Cultivate and maintain great relationships with building facilities personnel and tenants.
- Build, repair or install door frames, doors, cabinets, paneling, millwork, furniture, hardware etc. using hand and power tools.
- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Utilize proper PPE and safety equipment at all times.
- Address client concerns, assess installation and warranty needs and provide solutions.
- Quickly and professionally resolve all issues that may arise with the project on the job site, assuming responsibility and mobilizing appropriate parties.
- Act as a hospitable point of contact and facilitate effective communication between multiple internal and external project partners.
- Supervise small projects.
- As needed, solicit bids from trade partners and assemble estimates for clients.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Solid understanding of project lifecycle within commercial construction
- Thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of millwork installation and repair
- Extensive knowledge of standard tools, methods, and materials of doors and hardware installation and repair
- Thorough knowledge of and experience operating a wide variety of tools and equipment
- Ability to read architectural plans and specifications
- Ability to accurately estimate time needed to complete a project
- Ability to organize tasks, execute with efficiency, and ensure on-time task completion
- Outstanding customer service, organizational, and communication skills using written and verbal communication
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency using email, smart phones, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
- Proficient keyboarding skills
Qualifications:
- Journey level carpenter
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a carpenter in commercial construction
- OSHA-10 certification
- Valid driver’s license

Physical Demands:
- You will be required to safely walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see and hear.
- You must be able to safely operate a variety of machinery and equipment including but not limited to table saws, drill presses, hammers, saws, planers, ladders, tape measures, etc.
- You will be required to regularly execute repetitive movements.

Work Environment:
