Gardner Health Services is currently recruiting to fill a Peer Mentor position. This is a full-time position based in the Forensic, Diversion, & Reintegration (FDR) Program in Gardner's Specialty Behavioral Health Department. The goal and purpose of the mentoring program is to help Severely Mentally Ill Adults and Older Adults build confidence and life skills through experiences with a caring mentor. Peer Mentors will be part of a team that takes an active role in modeling life skills for the Adult / Older Adult in need. Mentors spend time being a role model and / or a support system to the Adult / Older Adult. Peer Mentors invest their time in listening, building trust, establishing a relationship, supporting and guiding the Adult / Older Adult in need. The FDR Program provides men and women involved with the criminal justice system with intensive treatment and support services to enable them to function successfully within their community.

Minimum Qualifications :
The minimum qualifications of this position is listed below. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work with diverse workgroups and serve individuals with diverse economic, social, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledgeable on local community resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic commonality, including value systems and behavior norms.
- Maintain a professional and confidential work environment.
- Serve effectively as a member of a team internally and externally.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience working with community members from diverse ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds, with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
- Be flexible, proactive, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Be professional, trustworthy, respectful of others, and display a positive attitude

Compensation :
Compensation and level of position placement will be determined based on relevant experience and education.
Peer Mentor : $21.00 / hourly
