What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biology Teacher (SY 2025-2026) position at Gardner Public Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree Preferred
- Massachusetts Licensure in Biology.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: Responsible for the instruction of biology and related classes in a high school setting serving students in grades 8 through 12.
PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students in biology and related science classes
- Work as a team member of the science department and attend common planning time
- Create high level lesson plans and modify accordingly as needed
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Utilize a variety of curriculum resources to diversify instruction and lessons
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans
- Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational and cultural backgrounds of the students served
- Observe and evaluate student's performance and maintain electronic gradebook
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking positive disciplinary procedures
- Attend scheduled meetings and professional development as required
