The Gardner-Webb University Department of Exercise Sciences seeks a qualified candidate to fill a 9-month full-time tenure-track faculty position in the College of Health Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning January 2025 on the main campus in Boiling Springs, NC.
The Department of Exercise Science is seeking individuals to contribute to teaching, service, and scholarly activities in accordance with University and Department policies and procedures, and Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) standards. The undergraduate exercise science program leads to entry level careers in exercise and sport science, as well as supports entry into various graduate and professional programs following graduation, including the department’s graduate Strength and Conditioning program. The program prioritizes experiential learning through high-impact practices inside and outside of the classroom.
Responsibilities :
Primary duties are to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and provide quality academic advising within a CAAHEP (CoAES) accredited exercise science program, participate in service to the program and university, and pursue scholarly activity and professional development. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of exercise science courses, such as Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Kinesiology, Nutrition for Performance, and Strength and Conditioning. Candidate may have potential to serve as Human Performance Lab Director based on background and professional qualifications.
Position requirements include :
- Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, or related field
- Professional-level certification(s), such as ACSM-EP, CEP or NSCA-CSCS, or the ability to obtain such certification(s) upon hire
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate populations from a diversity of backgrounds
- Passion for mentoring students through spiritual and professional development
- Demonstrable evidence of using a variety of instructional strategies, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery, experiential learning, or field-based experiences to engage students
- Ability to engage in scholarly activity
