What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infection Control and Quality Assurance Coordinator position at Garfield County Public Hospital District No.1?
Garfield County Hospital District is seeking someone with a strong quality mindset to join our team. The ideal candidate, under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, would be responsible for implementing and maintaining infection control programs that are designed to ensure patient, staff and visitor safety in a hospital setting. This position would also utilize data to identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee and others to develop action plans.
Duties would include, but not limited to:
- Coordinate with managers and other quality staff to ensure QAPI efforts are integrated into all operations and departments, including staff responsibilities
- Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines
- Monitor and investigate known or suspected sources of infections to determine the source and implement preventative measures
- Train healthcare staff through instruction and dissemination of information on infection control
- Collect, analyze and present infection data and trends to healthcare staff and management
- Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections of the facility to identify potential areas of infection risk
- Coordinate responses to any outbreaks within the facility including implementation of an emergency response plan
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning
- Ensure compliance with CMS, OSHA and CDC guidelines and directives
- Identify and support staff training
The ideal candidate would have a nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing, excellent communication and training skills, proficiency in Microsoft office and employee health records software, a solid understanding of quality assurance principles and be able to recognize and resolve opportunities to improve as well as resolve conflicts between operational practices and guidance, and exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
A Certification in Infection Control and 5 years' experience would be preferred.
