JOB DESCRIPTION : DIRECTOR OF CREDIT Position / Title : Director of Credit Exempt / Non-Exempt : Exempt Reports to : Controller GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION : The Director of Credit is responsible for the management and oversight of the Credit and Accounts Receivable (AR) departments and processes. This position is also responsible for keeping processes up to federal, state, and local compliance standards and the implementation of departmental improvement efforts. CORE AND ESSENTIAL : TASKS : Manages the Credit and Accounts Receivable department and staff Attend leadership meetings and prepare business plans for the department. Oversee the following credit, collection and AR responsibilities and processes; Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and company processes, Establishment of customer credit limits and maintenance of customer accounts Insurance requirements regarding contracts and purchase orders and / or bonds Collection processes and communication with customer base and salesforce Issuance of monthly invoices and statements Maintenance of customer credit and project files Collection accounts referred to legal Cash application transactions and resolution as needed Annual audit process Lead continuous improvement efforts in departmental areas including but not limited to, processes and procedures to ensure standardization and consistency across the organization, technology improvements, cross-training, etc. Provide leadership and support to ensure timely collection of money due to the organization including negotiating with customers in non-payment situations Maintain knowledge and compliance with multi-state lien and bonding requirements and sales tax rates Provides consultation to management in regards to past, current and future credit reports Investigates and resolves matters of significance on behalf of management by working closely with our sales force and various departments to resolve customer concerns Maintain corporate credit policy and recommend changes to management when applicable Set objectives for the AR team that align with the department's goals of improving cash flow and yield on working capital Manage relationship with merchant processor which includes maintaining multiple production accounts and review of fees and surcharging Monitor Day Sales Outstanding (DSO) and AR aging reports and compare to industry benchmarks with monthly reporting to the Board of Directors Prepare and analyze industry financial data and trends in the financial market as it relates to AR Promote a customer first, salesforce first mentality in the Credit department Maintain confidentiality of and compliance with all company information in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, and company policies All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS : 10 years of credit and / or collections experience preferred. Possession of at least a post- secondary degree or Master's in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred. Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Must possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software; past ERP experience a plus. Driving is a requirement for this position.
