Job Summary
Perform diversified manual and mechanical duties to set up and operate slitting machinery. Duties include: train and provide leadership/guidance for operator assistant, machine set up, slitting of product, recording productivity, and other similar duties pertaining to the operation of rewind machinery
Duties require verbal communications abilities, visual acuity to written material, machine operation and product details, manual dexterity in the use of ordinary hand tools, and the physical ability to lift various weights and to work on or around machinery
Essential Job Functions
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment. Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices & Policies.
- Set up slitting/rewind equipment. Read all job-related material as specified on the quality report to determine product specifications. Install shafts onto rolls and load and align rolls.
- Web product through machine. Set and adjust cutters to obtain required specifications for trim and web width.
- Operate machinery. Bring machine up to optimal operating speed for the product being run. Monitor operation to ensure web is wrinkle free, making any required adjustments. Adjust feed speeds, tension and pressure settings, etc. to maintain proper web tension. Wind product to specified unwind and length.
- Unload finished roll and place onto pallets. Take retained sample.
- Check quality of slit sample against specifications and record result in quality report.
- Record production and productivity information by entry into the shop floor computer system.
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment. Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Maintain work area in a clan and orderly condition.
- Perform other similar duties as required or as requested by supervisor.

- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions

Physical Requirements
- Typical environment of manufacturing and production facilities: Exposure includes but is not limited to continuous noise, scent of materials, bright work stations, machinery with moving parts.
- Intermittently on feet for approx. 8-12 hours daily on concrete floors.
- Period lifting of pallets weight and material weighing up to 70lbs.
- Squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps, grabbing, pulling, pushing and bending.
- Visual and hearing acuity within normal limits.
- Ability to collaborate and maintain Garlock's commitment to a Food Safe environment.
Typical environment of manufacturing and production facilities. Exposure includes but is not limited to continuous noise, scent of materials, bright workstations, machinery with moving parts.
