The Director is responsible to plan, organize, implement, coordinate and control services of the childcare program, exercising judgement and decision-making authority as delegated, including budget, policies, procedures and staff supervision. The Director operates the childcare program in conformance with state daycare licencing provisions. Responsibilities include the overall management of the Center’s early childhood program and its operation, facilitating, planning and coordinating of the children’s educational programs and activities.

JOB TASKS

Center Operational Duties:

  • Maintain an environment that shows our passionate love for God.
  • Possess a true commitment to the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development of the children.
  • Prepare requested documentation and provide an operational report at all BOD meetings.
  • Represent the Center in the community, acting as infrequently attending community events.
  • Responsible for effectively managing and resolving issues with the staff, parents and children.
  • Assist Center staff in preparing for and presenting early childhood programs and activities; direct the organization and follow-up of special activities such as field trips.
  • Follow the operating budget providing recommendations of changes as the need arrives.
  • On occasion, fill in for Lead Teachers and Care Providers according to their job descriptions.
  • Assist Lead Teacher, Care Provider and Cook to ensure their successful execution of roles.
  • Oversee and ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all program equipment, appliances and Center facilities.
  • Oversee and ensure that the meal and snack programs meet requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) infrequently submitting data on behalf of the Cook.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of Incident Report Forms.
  • Establish and execute policies and procedures that ensure the well-being of children including the areas of development, safety and child behavior.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of Christian curriculum plans according to Center policies which include weekly Bible verses, guest teachers, Christian songs and prayer.

Management of Staffing:

  • Interviewing and hiring qualified staff. Providing appropriate orientation, training, and evaluation for all staff on an annual and on-going basis.
  • Responsible for addressing personnel matters and implementing solutions that are in the best interest of the Center including documenting and undertaking disciplinary actions and, if necessary, the termination of employees according to State of Iowa law.
  • Assist and facilitate staff in obtaining the necessary training and certifications for their role.
  • Supervising staff on an on-going basis, ensuring staff comply with all Center policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations and work collaboratively with BOD to alter human resource policies or procedures.
  • Creating staff schedules to adhere to all state and Center requirements, including staff/child ratios
  • Maintain current and accurate staff records including all requirements for reporting to the State of Iowa.
  • Track employee hours ensuring accurate reporting. Provide hours to Payroll Personnel, submitting clarifications as requested.

Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure that the Center meets all Iowa Department of Health and Human Services licensing requirements.
  • Develop and implement Center operating policies and activities as required.
  • Obtain cost estimates for proposed projects and changes providing them with explanations to the BOD.
  • Formulate the annual program budget and expense funds.
  • Ensure that the center and staff conform to federal, state and local rules, regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Order and maintain child care supplies & equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain family billing. Provide explanations to families as needed. Track any late payments and conduct follow-up actions if necessary.
  • Assist in analyzing financial reports and make recommendations to resolve or take corrective action.
  • Implement contracts with child care funding agencies, submitting reports biweekly.
  • Infrequently assist in grant writing and fundraising.

Family Relationship Duties:

  • Be available for families four out of five days per week during the morning busy drop off times (6AM to 8AM) or the busy evening pickup times (4PM to 4:30PM).
  • Recruit and enroll children for the child care center; maintain accurate records on children enrolled in the program to including their development, attendance, immunization and general health records.
  • Conduct program registration, maintaining appropriate files and waiting lists.
  • Prepare any reports to authorities to ensure safety and well-being of children.
  • Confer with parents on a regular basis to discuss the development, behavior and personality of their enrolled children.
  • Request payment for Center services, negotiating an acceptable plan for any delinquency.
  • Communicate with parents about new hires, operational and policy changes.
  • Maintain public relations with parents and the community.
  • Provide families with information about assistance opportunities.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to meet point requirements as determined by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (attached)
  • Must have 2 or more years of management experience
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must show the ability to lead, conducting decision making and acting within the framework of the team.
  • Must conduct themselves with Christian ethics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Care Providers may be asked to do the following physical activities, or others, within the scope of this job description: sitting in chairs and on the floor, standing, walking, lifting from 5 to 50 pounds, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, among others.

WORK ENVIORNMENT

This job operates in a child care environment but is primarily based in an office. The position will interact with children in early learning classrooms daily and will include time spent outdoors. Occasionally the position will assist in field trips.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position offering between 35 and 45 hours per week. Parameter of hours and work days are Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Evenings and weekend hours may be required for staff meetings and/or job-related training classes.

COMPENSATION

GC4 provides market-based compensation based on experience and education.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
