Responsibilities
The Cyber Security Engineer will have an analytical mind and a detailed understanding of cybersecurity methodologies. Cyber security engineers are expected to have meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines.
The Cyber Security Engineer must display an excellent understanding of technology infrastructures using Firewalls, VPN, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Web-Proxy, and Security Audits. Perform ongoing risk assessments of client environments based on security best practices and/or compliance frameworks and report findings, risks, and recommendations. Configure and perform port scans, internal and external vulnerability scans, and web application scans and report findings, risks, and recommendations. Monitor SIEM tools or other security tools for alerts, triage alerts, and perform follow-up investigations, focusing on the highest risk alerts first. Participate in security incident investigations and responding to potential intrusions. Create IT and Information Security Standard Operating Procedures. Consult with IT Teams to communicate security risks and analysis. Prepare monthly reports on security for the organization.

The compensation range for the role is $62,751.00 - $78,448.50 annually.
Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- An Associate’s degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related qualification
- 3 to 5 years of related experience or an approved combination of education and experience while working toward a degree
- Security , CCNA Security desired or willing to get certified within 18-24 Months
- Basic understanding of Cisco Next Gen Firewalls, Nexus and Catalyst switches and routers
- Previous security analyst experience (SIEM and/or SOC experience a plus)
- Experience with tenable.io, Nessus, or other similar vulnerability products
- Experience with Cisco networking and firewall management
- Understanding of NIST Cybersecurity framework’s and other SP 800 series documents
- Assist in the development of Garnet Health’s Incident Response run books
- Skilled at research and finding solutions to problems
- Evaluate and recommend new security products and technologies
- Ability to work with a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
