GARNET VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT VACANCY NOTICE
POSITION: ASSISTANT BUSINESS MANAGER
STARTING DATE: On or about March 31, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Degree with five years experience in Accounting
- MBA/CPA desirable
- Three years preferred accounting experience in Pennsylvania School environment or in not-for-profit environment
- Knowledge of GAAP procedures is required, and state and federal accounting guidelines for school districts is preferred
- Outstanding communication, organization, customer relation skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Possess leadership and supervisory skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the daily operations of the Business Office
- Prepare and file Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) financial reports (e.g. annual budget and annual financial reports, etc.) for the purpose of keeping the District in compliance with PDE regulations as well as other reporting requirements for additional agencies
- Assists in budgeting and financial planning for the purpose of maintaining sound financial practices throughout the District
- Prepare materials for all auditors including but not limited to the internal auditors, Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) auditors, and work directly with auditors for the purpose of ensuring the District is following sound financial procedures
- Perform internal audits
- Ensure that sound accounting methods are followed, ensure the adequacy of accounting system and staff qualifications, give competent advice on all internal control accounting matters and ensure that the district’s management has adequate budgeting and accounting systems, consistent with District policies
- Collaborate with the Technology Department to maintain computer system controls with respect to payroll and financial accounting
SALARY RANGE: Per Act 93 Agreement, Group 6
