What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Garrett Excavating?
Estimator
Responsibilities:
· Deciphering and analyzing bid specifications, geo technical reports, earthwork take offs and drawings.
· Produce timely RFI’s for clarifications.
· Calculates cost by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
· Build estimates in software designed for civil estimating.
· Coordinate with other team members for takeoff and estimating needs.
· Deliver accurate and timely estimates/bid proposals to clients.
· Maintains positive relations with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
· Communicate effectively with other members of the team and work as part of the team.
· Track progress of multiple bids and bid results.
· Travel to job sites to inspect existing conditions.
Requirements:
· 5 years of experience in the civil construction estimating field.
· Proficient knowledge of earthwork, utilities, concrete, and asphalt.
· Experience with estimating and design software (Bid to Win, AG-TEK, AutoCAD or similar)
· General knowledge of various types of construction equipment.
· Must possess strong verbal, interpersonal, problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrate knowledge of Geotechnical understanding.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Participate in self-betterment and leadership training.
· Must show proficient computer skills.
