What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Representative position at Garrett Metal Detectors?
Essential Functions
- Responsible for inquiries and correspondence via phone and email about the company’s products, equipment, and services from both US and international customers.
- Responsible for providing requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order entry, order adjustments, order status and cancellations directly from customers, dealers, and distributors.
- Work with international Business Development Managers, freight forwarders, international warehouses to accurately enter and maintain product orders. Includes processing of documentation (e.g., Order Verification, Bureau of Industry and Security).
- Maintain good rapport with customers and work to give them the best possible service.
- Respond to inquiries, send product or service materials to customers by the most appropriate means.
- Obtain details on requests by customers and refers requests to the appropriate distributor/dealer based on product need and/or geographical assignments.
- Prioritize, organize, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ensure operations adhere to laws, guidelines, and ISO requirements.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three years’ customer service experience
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have good interpersonal/customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook
- Ability to collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
- Metal detecting experience a plus
- Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
Work Environment
- Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation and moderate noise
- May work with or near moving mechanical equipment
Physical Demands
Minimal physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an office/clerical nature to work from a sitting or standing position.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds, with or without assistance
