Position Summary
We are currently looking for a Junior Underwriter to join our factoring underwriting team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of underwriting experience, be a strong communicator, and have an uncanny attention to detail. The candidate will also have a service oriented mindset, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the Underwriting, Factoring and ABL deal pipeline
- Engage directly with Franchisees and prospects to ascertain deals are in compliance with company criteria
- Fully underwrite factoring transactions
- Review and submit Deal Review Summaries with recommendations to the credit committee
- Engage with Franchisees directly in order to obtain key data and ensure sufficiency and completion of underwriting documentation
- Engage directly with potential clients to learn their business, their needs and structure appropriate facilities, as well as preparing proposals
- Liaise with credit reporting agencies and other credit and compliance vendors to obtain timely and accurate reports
- Assist in managing a team of Underwriters and Credit Analysts
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills over the phone, in-person, and through email
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and email applications (Gmail)
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education & Experience
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree at an accredited university, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 5 years of direct underwriting experience and/or field audit or field examiner experience, ideally in a series of progressive positions with a lending institution (including factoring and asset based lenders)
