Reinsurance company seeks an Operations Cash / Accounting Assistant to support its Proportional Operations team. It can be junior level with a formal educational background in Accounting combined with demonstrated analytical skills. Some professional cash or accounting experience would be required. Insurance or Reinsurance exposure would be a real plus.
Position is in office 4 days per week, located in midtown NYC convenient to all major transportation hubs.
This is a 6 month minimum contract role with the potential a full time conversion for the right candidate
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Proportional, the Operations Cash / Accounting Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to, providing accounting focused support to the members of the Cash Operations team and assisting with special/ad hoc projects when required.
Essential Functions of the Position
Client Services is responsible for contract set-up in our accounting systems and the administration of reinsurance contracts, which includes:
- Processing accounts into our accounting system. Liaise with broker, underwriters, and analysts as needed for purposes of understanding accounts to ensure proper administration
- Assist in the analysis and recording of data received from clients and brokers and processing premium receipts, commissions, and claim payments.
- Assist in the analysis of expected vs actual results including preparation of the quarterly Proportional accruals.
- Assist in the review and coordination with the Cash Team all outstanding balances. This includes following up with clients on items due and researching and reconciling account discrepancies, including unapplied cash
Requirements:
- College degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience is required.
- Must possess well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in insurance/reinsurance industry (advantageous)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and timekeeping skills and excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to the requirements of the team
