The Role: Pastry Chef
The Pastry Chef is responsible for overseeing the Pastry Department, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and attention to detail in elevating and sustaining the highest culinary standards. The Pastry Chef will be accountable for the quality and consistency of the pastry products produced and served, the efficiencies, policies, procedures, training, and accountability of costs associated with the department. They will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef on the creation, development, and implementation of new desserts and innovative menu additions.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, breads, etc., following traditional and modern recipes for both menus and special moments.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on the creation, development, and implementation of new desserts and creative menu development.
- Supervise the preparation and production of all baked goods.
- Inspect the quality of all ingredients and measure them for specific recipes.
- Record inventory of supplies and order stock; estimate daily and weekly inventory needs and replenish items appropriately.
- Ensure the quality of materials and the condition of equipment and devices used for cooking, meeting all department standards.
- Analyze food costs and determine the most cost-effective recipes while maintaining quality.
- Identify staffing needs and support recruitment and training efforts.
- Provide training and guidance to pastry staff in related work.
- Direct and/or arrange for the maintenance and care of department facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials to promote efficiency, health, and safety.
- Research and develop new products for the continual growth of the pastry department.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of prior experience as a Pastry Chef.
- Minimum 2 years of fine dining food service experience.
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, baking techniques, and nutrition.
- Passionate about culinary and pastry arts, with knowledge of a multitude of ingredients and recipes.
- Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Precise eye for detail.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Physically able to stand and move around for long periods of time.
- Must be able to comfortably and frequently lift upwards of 20-50 pounds.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, and early morning/late evening shifts.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.23 - $23.15 per hour
